Please join us at the CU Denver School of Public Affairs on May 31st for a special double report release of Start with the Facts: Denver Public Schools 2018 and Unequal Choices. Hear from Denver Public School Board Members past and present during a candid conversation about where we’ve been, where we are now and where we’re going.
Start with the Facts: Denver Public Schools 2018 is our eighth annual report on the current status and performance of DPS. We include calls to action for a new district strategic plan, deeper engagement with the community over school options, and a renewed effort to close opportunity gaps given stalled or slowed progress.
Unequal Choices is a groundbreaking new report on current school model choices for families and students in DPS. There has been much discussion about choice and school options in Denver and our report is the first to take a detailed inventory of the options available (or more importantly, not available) to families. Unequal Choices should be required reading for policymakers and practitioners who are concerned about the future of education options in our city.
These two reports are being released with an important discussion with DPS Board Members past and present including:
- Angela Cobián, Current DPS Board Member, District Two
- Dr. Nate Easley, Former DPS Board Member President, District Four
- Theresa Peña, Former DPS Board Member President, At Large
- Barbara O’Brien, Current DPS Board Member Vice-President, At Large
